Why does iGPSGIS measure in meters?

With iGPSGIS and iCMTGIS, you can select the distance unit to use. To do so, first tap the Main Menu icon. Select Setup then select Coordinate System. The Lat-Lon-Altitude (LLA) system and the UTM system default to Meters. The State Plane system defaults to US Survey Feet.

If you wish to see the distances displayed in feet, simply tap the pull-down arrow for the Unit field and select US Survey Feet or International Feet.

After tapping the green check mark at the top of the screen, you will see the scale bar in Map View displayed in feet. Also, when you select an Area Feature and call up the Are/Length utility, you will see the perimeter displayed in feet and the area in acres and square feet.
