Do I need PC-GIS to prepare a data table for data collection?

A data table is a database containing the definition of Feature Topics and their associated Attribute/Values. It is used for easily tagging a Feature with a pre-defined description.

Our GPS/GIS data collection application software, such as iCMTGIS II for iPad and iGPSGIS II for iPhone, will let you set up the definition of the Feature Topics, Attributes and Values as well as the data collection parameters for each Feature Topic.  We call this database a Feature List.

If you have the latest release of PC-GIS 9, you will also be able to prepare the Feature List on your PC then transfer it to your iPad or iPhone.
