How does Moving Map work?

Moving Map

The iGPSGIS II, iCMTGIS II, iCMTGIS III, Forester GPS GIS III and Farming GPS GIS III apps provide a Move Map option under Setup\Navigation Settings.

With the Move Map option selected, when you move along, the GPS marker will always point up, i.e. the Map View will always show you moving straight ahead. Accordingly, the .pim or .tif background map will be reoriented, as indicated by the North Arrow.

The built-in Apple Map cannot be reoriented. Therefore, you must close the Map in order to work in the moving map mode.

The Move Map mode will let you set a margin so that while the GPS tracker is within the specified margin, the map will stay still and not be constantly moving and reorienting itself. This is particularly helpful for air-borne survey and data collection.

If you are just walking along, you will need to zoom into the background map to a small scale so as to see the moving map effect.

Please note that the moving map mode does not apply to the stakeout functions.
