Is it possible to use a design drawing as background map for staking points?

If your design drawing is a geo-referenced .tif file, you can load it into iCMTGIS III, Forester GPS GIS III or Farming GPS GIS III as a Background Map. If you are using iGPSGIS II, Utility Data Collection, Deed Calls Pro, Forester GPS GIS II or Farming GPS GIS II, then the drawing file will first need to be converted into a .pim file before it can be loaded into the app.

If your design drawing is not geo-referenced, then you will need to geo-reference it before you can use it as a Background map.

Our PC-GIS X software provides the function for geo-referencing .tif, .jpg and .bmp image files. You will need to know a few reference points to match the image with the job data. After geo-referencing the image, then it can be converted into a .pim image file and brought into the app as a Background Map. Then you can refer to the Background Map while staking out the Point, Line and/or Area Features.

Please watch this video to see a geo-referencing example.
