How to create a data dictionary using iCMTGIS PRO

“I would like to ask about the ability for our software to provide the data dictionary? If yes, what is the process please? One of the engineers send me a sample shape file from the distribution assets at xxx, he asked if we can do data dictionary for him. Another question please, is it required to have the desktop version for icmt to develop the data dictionary or it is enough to have the iPad software?”

The Feature List functionality under the GPS tab of iCMTGIS PRO is for setting up one or more data dictionaries. The section on Feature List in the iCMTGIS PRO Help document describes this function and provides an example for creating a Feature List.

You can use iCMTGIS PRO or the desktop PC-GIS X to set up a Feature List. The Feature List file has the file name extension “.fbr“.

After a Feature List has been saved in iCMTGIS PRO, you can select it for any Job you do on iCMTGIS PRO.

You can open the engineer’s sample shape file in iCMTGIS PRO and look at the data records in Sheet View to find out what Values they have assigned to each Attribute. However, these are just the Values used during one data collection session and may not cover all the Values they have defined for the Attribute. The engineer should provide you with the full structure of the data dictionary.
