Meaning of working coordinate system in iCMTGIS III

“From the help file exported data will be in the ‘working coordinates’. How are the working coordinates defined? USGS geo tiffs are in UTMs. Does that become the working coordinates; or can decimal degrees or state plane coordinates be selected?”

Before loading the USGS GeoTiffs or importing Shapefiles, you will want to select in iCMTGIS III the same coordinate system as that used for creating the USGS GeoTiffs or Shapefiles. Please also make sure to select the proper distance unit.

After loading the USGS GeoTiff or Shapefiles, you can switch to another coordinate system of your choosing, such as SPC.
If you want to see angles displayed in decimal degrees, then under Setup select Elevation and Angle then select Degrees.

Are you planning to use Decimal GPS in the future. While I can convert I usually use DD.ddddd settings.

Most of our apps have a function under Setup, called Unit and Angle System, that will let you choose “Degree” as the angle unit instead of DMS. This setting applies to angles as well as the display of GPS LAT-LON coordinates.
