Use iPhone app to update attributes in Shapefiles

“I’m just wondering if I could use my I-phone for my surveying? Would iGPSGIS II allow me to import a table in shapefile format, update alphanumeric attributes in the field and then export it back to my PC? From the descriptions of this software it looks like i can only view ()not edit) the attributes of imported files.”

Yes, iGPSGIS II will let you import points/lines/areas with attributes as Shapefiles, update the attributes then export them in Shapefiles.

Can I use iCMTGIS to edit shapefiles?

Once the Shapefiles are loaded onto iCMTGIS, they become Features that can be deleted or modified by changing the color assignment. You could also add new Features to the job then export the data as new Shapefiles.

Please remember that Shapefiles actually consists of several files. Before using iCMTGIS to open a Shapefile, please make sure the .shp, the .shx, the .dbf, and the .prj file by the same job name are all present in the Documents folder for iCMTGIS.

If you have the PC-GIS software, then you can use it to easily change the vector data in the Shapefile, such as moving a node to a different location, or inserting or removing one or more nodes of a line or polygon.
