Utility Data Collection app for iPad released

We are pleased to announce the release of the Utility Data Collection app for iPad.

This versatile GPS GIS mapping and data collection app was mainly designed for utility asset management and meter reading. However, it can also be used by other professionals who need to map points, lines and areas and record pertinent information for the mapped Features, such as for fish & wildlife, natural resources, land management, oil and gas, archaeology, sales route management, etc.

You can use the GPS/GIS data collection functions to record the locations and conditions of existing Features, such as land plots, utility poles, utility meters and other equipments and attach one or more photos to the surveyed item. You can use the import and export functions to easily set up meter routes, upload meter database and export meter readings. The Meter Reading data input panel will let you easily enter the meter readings with other observations or remarks.

This app comes with a built-in help file and a couple sample job files.

Following is a list of the functions provided:

* Enter meter readings in a dedicated data input screen.
* Optionally display the meter route.
* Know at a glance which meters have been read.
* Import and export Shapefiles, DXF and text files.
* Record GPS Points, Lines and Areas.
* Precisely digitize Points, Lines and Areas over the built-in Map.
* Move nodes to fine-tune the map drawing.
* View position, length and area values for the Features.
* Create multiple attribute tables (Feature Lists).
* Tag the Features with pre-defined Attribute/Values and symbols.
* Attach photos to Features.
* Enter a formula for an Attribute based on other Attributes.
* View/edit Attribute Values in a full-page spread-sheet.
* Sort the data records based on specified Attribute.
* Goto (search for) data record based on Attributes.
* Label the Features with Attributes, area and segment lengths.
* Measure distances and areas without saving the shapes.
* Create a Point from the entered address or coordinates.
* Save the job data file for later use.
* Output Feature data to PDF.
* Email data files to your colleagues.
* Store and retried files to/from iCloud.

Farming GPS GIS app for iPad released

During the last six months we have released several app tools for using the iPad or iPhone to perform various  tasks on land features, such as measuring and digitizing lines and areas, entering deed calls, creating grid point or grid lines, creating buffers and dividing up an area. Conceivably all of these functions could be useful for farming, farm sales, farm management and farm services. The Farming GPS GIS app fir iPad incorporates these GIS mapping tools plus a number of additional powerful functions. It will let you easily create a farm tract, a timber tract or any other land parcel by importing data in Shapefile or DXF format, by precise digitization or by entering deed calls. The acreage and perimeter will be promptly computed. You can easily divide or combine the farm plots. You will be able to record attribute information for each farm plot as well as for each grid point. You will also be able to enter formulas to compute values derived from the recorded data. For example, when you enter the yield for a farm plot, the yield per acre can be automatically calculated based on the acreage of the plot. Similarly, you could have the app compute and display the cost per acre.

In conjunction with a compatible high-accuracy GPS device, the Point Stakeout function can help you locate an old land mark, and the Line Stakeout function can help you layout a long fence or pipeline.

* Label the Features with ID and Attributes.

* Label the Lines with segment lengths and directions as well as corner angles.

* Label the Areas with size in acres and square feet or hectares and square meters.

* Measure distances and areas without saving the shapes.

* Create a Point from the entered address or coordinates.

* Create a Point or record a node by picking the GPS location.

* Use GPS to go to and stake out Points or nodes on a Line or Area Feature.

* Use GPS to stake out a Line or Area boundary.

* Save the job data file for later use.

* Export Features in DXF format.

* Output the drawing and the coordinates to PDF.

* Email the job data files and the PDF files to your colleagues.
