Can’t hear sound from iCMTGIS III app on iPhone 6

“When I turn GPS on in my app, I don’t hear any beeps. My iPhone 6 works fine. Volume is turned up. The Navigation Beep and Featuring Beep show checked.”

Please check the Ring/Silent switch on the left side of your iPhone 6. It needs to be moved toward the display side. For additional information, please see the article at

I cannot mute the GPS sound in iCMTGIS PRO

Under Setup – Navigation Settings, you can turn off the Navigation Beep, the Featuring Beep, or both.

The navigation beeps provide an auditory confirmation that the app is connected to the GPS receiver and receiving position data. A two-note featuring beep is emitted with each GPS fix while you are actively recording GPS data.

There is also a Target Beep that you can switch on or off via GPS – Stakeout Setup. The Stakeout Setup screen will also let you turn the Navigation Beep and the Featuring Beep on or off.

I have never heard beeping from the app upon connection or during stake out.

Are you able to hear any sound from your iPad (outside of iCMTGIS III)?

If not, please check the Settings on your iPad.
Under Settings/General, there is an option for USE SIDE SWITCH TO:
If you have “Mute” checked, then please slide the side switch to the other position to undo the muting.

If you are able to hear sounds in general but just not the GPS navigation, data collection or stakeout sounds in our app, please check the iCMTGIS III Setup/Navigation Settings screen and the Stakeout Setup screen, and make sure the following check boxes are marked:

Navigation Beep
Featuring Beep
Target Beep (used in conjunction with the stakeout Tolerance in the Stekeout Setup screen)

My GPS is connected to iCMTGIS II via Bluetooth, but I don’t hear any GPS beeps in iCMTGIS II.

Please check the following settings.

1. In iCMTGIS II, select Menu/Setup/Navigation Settings.
Is the check box for Navigation Beep marked?
Is the check box for Featuring Bee marked?

2. On your iPad, select Settings then select General.
For “USE SIDE SWITCH TO:”, if you have marked the “Mute” option, then please toggle the side switch to the other position to turn off Mute.

How to rid the zigzag lines from the iGPSGIS II screen?

“Everywhere I go the iGPSGIS II screen draws a line and I end up with a mess on the screen.”

In the navigation mode iGPSGIS II, iCMTGIS II and Utility Data Collection will show a trail of where you have been. If you are not moving much, this can result in a display of zigzag lines on the screen because of the inaccuracy of the built-in GPS of the iPhone.
If you wish, you may turn off the display of the trail using the following steps:

Tap the Main Menu icon then select Setup.
Select Navigation Settings.
Enter “0” into the Trail Length field.

If you do not wish to hear the navigation beeps, you could turn them off by marking the Navigation Beep check box at the bottom.
The Featuring Beeps are emitted while you are actively recording GPS position data. You could turn them off as well, if you wish.

Forester GPS GIS 1.0.1 update

CMTINC.COM has released a free update for the Forester GPS GIS app.

Version 1.0.1 fixes a bug encountered when more than 20 characters are entered into an Attribute field or a Sheet View cell. The app should be able to handle up to 50 characters in these fields.

The .pmp format of the Forester GPS GIS app has been modified to be compatible with the new PC-GIS X mapping program.

In the Stakeout Settings screen, an option for turning off the Navigation Beep has been added. So, if you are bothered by the constant beeping while GPS is turned on, you could un-mark the check box for the Navigation Beep to turn it off.

You can update your Forester GPS GIS app by downloading it from the iTunes App Store.
